Property Taxes
Union’s property taxes are collected by the Montgomery County Treasurer. The property tax millage is 135.12 mills per $1,000 of valuation, with the effective tax rate being 94.12 mills per $1,000 of valuation.
Let’s say the market value of a home is $100,000. The assessed valuation is determined by multiplying $100,000 by 35 percent: $100,000 x 0.35 = $35,000. To determine this property’s tax liability, multiply the home’s assessed valuation by the effective property tax rate, which is 94.12 mills(0.09412):$35,000 x 0.09412 = $3,294.20.
Based on a $100,000 home value, this sample home’s property tax breakdown is:
