Assistant Chief Marvin

Assistant Chief Zach Marvin has been in the fire service since 2009, working for various departments throughout Montgomery county. In June of 2016, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and also assumed the role as the City’s Information Technology Administrator. In March of 2020, he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Fire Chief. 

Asst. Chief Marvin oversees day-to-day operations and administration of the Union Fire Department under the direction of Public Safety Director Michael Blackwell. He is also the department's representative on numerous committees spanning throughout Montgomery County and Miami County. 

Asst. Chief Marvin has a Bachelor's in Organizational Leadership from Wright State University; is a Level-II Firefighter, Paramedic, Fire Instructor, EMS Instructor, Fire Safety Inspector and holds numerous technical rescue certifications - including trench, confined space, structural collapse, rope, static and swiftwater, haz-mat - and is an active member of the Ohio Region 3 Urban Search and Rescue team. Asst. Chief Marvin grew up in the Northmont Community, graduating from Northmont High School, and continues to live in the Northmont Community with his wife and two kids.
